What Is Egg Hunt 2026: The Grand Eggspress? (Roblox)
Updated
Egg Hunt 2026: The Grand Eggspress is a community-made, story-driven 3D platforming adventure on Roblox that revives the classic Egg Hunt event format — you ride the Grand Eggspress train across the Eggverse, chasing fragments of the Century Egg and collecting unique eggs along the way. It launches July 29, 2026 and runs for one month. It is not made by Roblox Corporation: it was built by Studio Koi Koi and the Koiverse team and funded by the community through a record-setting Kickstarter.
Why an “Egg Hunt” — the Roblox tradition it revives
Egg Hunts were official Roblox events for over a decade: limited-time games where players hunted collectible eggs that became avatar items. Roblox retired the format after 2020, and no official Egg Hunt has run since (Roblox Wiki: Egg Hunts).
The best-remembered entry of that era is Egg Hunt 2018: The Great Yolktales, developed by the community team Fifteam. Egg Hunt 2026 is its spiritual sequel: Studio Koi Koi announced the project with the line that creators from The Great Yolktales had joined forces with the studio to bring the tradition back (Studio Koi Koi press release).
Who is making it
| Question | Answer | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Development team | Koiverse — led by Quenty, including many former Fifteam members | The Great Yolktales Wiki |
| Studio / publisher | Studio Koi Koi | studiokoikoi.com/egghunt2026 |
| Community scale | ~100 UGC creators, 20 developers, 4 Roblox organizations involved | Funding press release |
The record Kickstarter
The project was announced in June 2025 and its Kickstarter opened on December 2, 2025. It hit its $75,000 goal in about two days — described by the team as the biggest Roblox Kickstarter of all time — and closed in early January 2026 with $112,872 raised from 559 backers (Kicktraq campaign stats; Studio Koi Koi funding announcement).
What you actually do in the game
- Ride the Grand Eggspress: the story follows the train across the Eggverse in pursuit of Century Egg fragments (official game page).
- Platform through 6 story chapters, each set in its own world, from Florentine Forest to Pavlava Ruins — see the full worlds list.
- Collect eggs: over 100 uniquely themed eggs are planned, each designed by a UGC creator. Per-egg location guides will live in our egg database once the game is out.
- Play solo or multiplayer: it is built as a single-player and multiplayer 3D platforming adventure (allthings.how tracker).
The exact egg count at launch and each world’s mechanics are not yet confirmed — Studio Koi Koi has kept most content details unrevealed before release.
What we already know beyond the announcements
Even with details under wraps, the game’s public Roblox badge list went up before launch and quietly says a lot. It contains 159 badges — 115 of them individual eggs, each credited to its UGC designer — plus story and challenge badges that name per-world collectible sets, unlockable tools, timed minigames, coin-collection tiers, and 100% completion targets (“every golden egg and special egg”). The badge ordering suggests roughly 17-18 eggs per story world. Two details stand out:
- Each egg badge description carries a Roblox Marketplace link, the strongest pre-launch sign that eggs map to real avatar items, as they did in the classic events.
- One badge is named Egg Hunt 2017 Sugar Egg — a returning egg from the official era, a deliberate nod to the tradition the game revives.
We keep the full inferred breakdown in the worlds guide and the complete pre-launch egg list in the egg database; all of it is labeled as badge-data inference until we confirm it in-game.
When and how to play it
The game opens July 29, 2026 at 3:00 PM ET and the event runs through August 29, 2026. The full game costs $30 (is it worth it?), with the introduction and Chapter 1 free to play at launch and Chapter 2 going free on August 5. Full breakdown: release time in every timezone and how to play.

Frequently asked questions
- Do the eggs in Egg Hunt 2026 become avatar items?
- Strong signs point to yes, but it is not officially announced. In the classic official Egg Hunts, collected eggs became wearable avatar items — and the 2026 game's public egg badge descriptions each contain a 'find it in the Marketplace' link, which suggests every egg has a matching Roblox Marketplace item. We'll verify exactly how it works at launch.
- Is Egg Hunt 2026 an official Roblox event?
- No. It is a community-made revival by Studio Koi Koi and the Koiverse team (led by Quenty, with many former Fifteam members), funded through Kickstarter. Roblox Corporation is not the developer.
- Is Egg Hunt 2026 connected to Egg Hunt 2018: The Great Yolktales?
- Yes, as a spiritual sequel: creators from Egg Hunt 2018: The Great Yolktales joined Studio Koi Koi to build it, and it deliberately continues that game's story-driven egg hunt format.
- How long does the event run?
- From July 29, 2026 at 3:00 PM ET to August 29, 2026 at around 3:00 PM ET — one full month. What happens to the game after the event ends has not been announced.
